16th Annual Leadership in Educational Excellence Awards: Kathleen Carlson and Milissa Walz Honored

Eighteen school districts in Central Minnesota were represented at the 16th Annual Leadership in Educational Excellence Awards and Recognition Ceremony, Kathleen Carlson and Milissa Walz from Holdingford Schools were two of the honorees. The Annual Leadership in Educational Excellence Awards recognizes achievements by educators and administers. Thank a teacher when you see one. They deserve it !

Community Tree Lighting Ceremony

I am breaking one of my house rules, kind of talking about Christmas now, it's not even Thanksgiving yet and there is all the buzz about the Christmas Season. But- I have just been informed the community tree lighting ceremony sponsored by the Petals To Pedals Garden Club like last year, will be Saturday December 1 st at 5:30 or when church gets out a little later. So this is a heads up to plan on coming down for hot chocolate,cider, song and of course Christmas lights.

New Roof On City Hall

This is one of those we didn't want to do it projects. The city hall has been having issues with leaks in the roof for a while. The question was to do it piecemeal or do it right. We did it right.

Holdingford in New Books

This the year for books being published that the people in Holdingford area can relate to. First the "Minnesota 13" book by Elaine Davis, then there is the "Bowlus Centennial"pictural history by Louis Titel, et. al. and now Garrison Keillor has a new book out "Pontoon" about the folks of Lake Wobegon, and of course Holdingford is mentioned.

Chicken and Ham Dinner

The Holdingford Area Knights of Columbus, St. Isidore Council 9307,
is sponsoring a chicken and ham dinner on Sunday, October 7, 2007,
at the Pelican Lake Ballroom, 1 mile west of St. Anna,
with serving from 3:00 - 7:00 pm.
Take-out meals available.
All proceeds are used only for charitable activities of the Council.

Hazardous Waste Pickup

The Stearns County Household Hazardous Waste Truck Pickup will be in Holdingford, September 5th 9 a.m.-1 p.m. At St. Mary's Church, in Holdingford. Residents can properly dispose of unsafe or nuisance products, including paints, cleaners, fuels, automotive chemicals, fluorescent bulbs, solvents and more. It's Free.
