Blattner Energy and employees Food Shelf Donation

Blattner Energy and its employees have again donated over 4,000 pounds of food, cleaning and paper supply's, plus $2,023 in cash to the Holdingford Area Food Shelf.
Blattner Energy is a great example of what it means to be a good "Corporate Citizen" and give back to the local communities.
This donation will go a long way to help the less fortunate in our community.

Natural Gas Coming to Holdingford

By October of this year, natural gas will be piped throughout the City of Holdingford and Opole.
Greater Minnesota Gas will run a pipe from Upsala to the county line, and Xcel Energy will pipe it from there to Holdingford and beyond.
The main lines will run along the streets and alleys and from the main line to the homes and businesses. Xcel Energy will bring the lines to the residents and businesses, and install the meters.
The first 75 feet and meter will be free. Anything over 75 feet will cost $3.50 per foot.
It will be up to each home owner to have a qualified person bring the line into the home and hook up furnaces, water heaters, etc.
The natural gas will be provided and billed by Xcel Energy and be included on your Xcel Energy electric statement.
We will be having sign up meetings in the near future in which everything will be explained including the amount of savings using natural gas.
There will be a mailing to let everyone know when these meetings will occur.

New Business in Town

We have a new business in town to welcome! It's Everything Signs located over at 470 Industrial Drive. Need a sign check out their web site as they do lot of different kinds of signs , t-shirts also.

The New Water Fountain

I have been slow in posting this photo of the new fountain at the Lake Wobegon trail. It has been up and running for a while. A very nice addition. I wrote about it here . A big thanks goes out to Wedel's Electric of Albany for donating their labor to this project.

A Grocery Store in Holdingford

The Economic Development Committee from 'HIP' is taking a marketing survey to see if there would be support for a grocery store in Holdingford. Party Time At The Power House

Pat and the gang over at the "Holdingford Municipal Liquor Store" [if you are offical] "Muni' [for the older folks] and even older [ The Power House] anyway they are revving things up for the summer.
*****He's having a tailgate party before the NASCAR Nextel race, Saturday, May 19th, serving hamburgers outside.
**** Then on May 25 th they are having a big outdoor music event with the band 'Pie Hole' Who bill themselves as "the best kept party band secret in the Granite City"

Blue Bunny Ice Cream Man

A summer treat is coming this summer. The clinging bell of a ice cream truck. A Blue Bunny ice cream distributor, has recieved city council permission, to sell ice cream in town. He will be coming around one day a week, between 4 and 6 pm, on Mondays . Its a real flashback, I haven't seen one of these in years, have you ?

New Scepaniak Industrial Park

Here is Wm. Scepaniak, Inc. located at the Scepaniak Industrial Park on the south end of town. According to the USGS , for a number of years they have been listed as one of the largest Principal Construction Sand and Gravel Producers in Minnesota and United States. You can't see their 'parking lot' of equipment here but it is extensive.

Calling with Skype

This is off my normal topics it is to cool not to pass on. I really don't mean for this to sound like a commerical but, If you haven't hear of Skype it is a basicly free internet phone service. If the person you want to talk to also has Skype installed, you can talk for free. Case in point, my eldest son is speaking at The Search Engine Marketing Conference in Australia I was sitting back in the lounge chair this morning, talking to him tomorrow (Australia is 16 hours ahead of us ). Anyway we talked for a half a hour, for no cost. Very neat ! The was sound very good quality. If the person you want to talk to doesn't have Skype or computer you can call their landline. My next call will be to Uncle Ben in England, who doesn't have a computer. It will cost 00.021 cents a minute.

Buying Groceries Online

Driving some distance for groceries out here can be a problem sometimes. Whether just getting there or having the time. Were you aware you can buy your groceries online and have them delivered to Holdingford ? The cost of doing so is about what it costs me for gas to get to St. Cloud. You can order them in the morning and get them that afternoon. It is a option to think about Coborns provides this service. Another new business in town

We have another new business in town. " A Healthy Glo" located in
the professional building on Main Street. They specialize in massage,
myofacial release, reflexology, raindrop technique and muscle
response testing. She also provides internal ideas for great skin
care with homemade bath and body products enhanced with essential
oils. Gloria Brinker the owner is a Certified Natural Health
Professional. She has worked with essential oils for 7 1/2 years.
She is available for appointments.

NEW HOUSING DEVELOPMENT

If you notice a lot of activity on the south end of town, next to
County road 9, this summer. You will see much dirt being moved, as a
new housing development is in the works. I have confidence this one
will move forward quite quickly ! Phase one of the project will
include about 20 houses on nice sized lots.

New Business in Town

John Kulla has opened 9-17 Auto Repair on the corner of County Road 9
&17, John also sells cars there and it's one of those really rare gas
stations today, a full service gas station, can you remember when
someone pumps the gas for you? The topper is he doesn't charge extra
for that full service. Welcome John !

What used to be Mary's Restaurant on Main St.is now T.K.'s Restaurant & Lounge. The new owner is converting the back room into a Lounge while the front will be a no smoking family restaurant.
